Welcome to My New Blog #Newchallenge Are you up for it ?

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

β€” Oscar Wilde.

Hello beautiful people, it’s your girl Stantara also known as Miss Gelato πŸ˜‹πŸ₯°πŸ§. Some of you guys might know me personally, via Instagram, my inner beauty pageant or even through here! But despite how, I’m looking forward to growing a genuine and supportive family here on this blog and to follow each other on our journeys. So, as this is my first post on my new blog, let’s start with a challengeπŸ₯³πŸ“ˆ. Today (or whenever you read this x ), I challenge you to say something positive about yourself each time you pass a mirror. Yes, might seem cringe, but I’m here to help us all improve, especially with something as important as our mental health… so yeah.. whether you’ve just woken up and passing the mirror in your bedroom with sleep still in your eyes πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚ It doesn’t matter. I’ve personally done this and it has helped me and I know of other people who have done it also. I don’t like the phrase β€œsay it until your mind believes it” because I believe that the positive things we say about ourselves are already true, so instead the phrase that I like to use is, β€œRecognising your worth” because my friend reading this: YOU ARE ENOUGH !! πŸ˜›πŸ˜˜πŸ’—πŸ’˜ don’t forget to subscribe (omg I sound like a Youtuber 🀣 ) and leave back Positive feedback ! #PositiveEnergy = #Positivevibes Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.

β€œThe women behind the Unicornsβ€πŸ¦„– PLT β€œBehind Closed Doors” International Women’s Day Special review

*Sings the Iconic lyrics of Independent Ladies by Destiny’s Child*

So for all my readers, this Sunday on the 8th March 2020, is International Women’s Day, hence for PLT’s latest podcast on β€œBehind Closed Doors”, The PLT family decided to do an episode dedicated to the boss babes that work BTS of my favourite fashion retail company, the one we all know and love; β€œPrettyLittleThing” .

In case, you haven’t heard of PLT, short for, PrettyLittleThing is a UK-based fashion retailer, aimed at the young, fresh and fashion savvy. I’ve always been a fan of PLT from since when I became old enough to buy my own clothing online. PLT caters for everyone and includes diversity in their models and provides trendy clothing at an affordable price.

Honestly, despite my love for PLT and their team, I do recommend their podcasts. Being a phone fuelled teen πŸ˜‚, who is social media savvy, I must admit that I had never listened to podcasts before β€œBehind Closed Doors” and thought that they were boring. However since listening to β€œBehind Closed Door” it really highlighted the greatness of podcasts. In addition, the fact that the podcast brings a fun and girly twist with empowering chats with our fave influencers and now the PLT team ! πŸ˜ƒπŸ’—πŸ’˜ , instead of gossiping, that we unfortunately see a lot with other medias.

This Tuesday, on the latest episode of β€œBehind Closed Doors”, PLT’s presenter sat down with Nicki Capstick ( Head of Marketing ) at PLT, Amy Reddish ( Head of Brand ) and Gemma Dunne ( Head of Buying), who I must say gave me some laughs with their funny stories about when PLT just started and their empowering quotes. It was so beautiful not only to see how PLT had grown so far, but also how individually, each of the Boss Babes, including Natalie O’Leary the presenter herself had all grown personally. Nicki from doing Admin to finding something she loved doing which is marketing and having the strength to manage all of Umar Kamani’s ideas etc πŸ˜‚ ,Gemma, like me, teaching that Creativity does not have a certain personality and the fact that as a beautiful strong mother, gradually learning how to balance her work life with her personal life, Natalie from studying drama to reaching even higher limits in testing herself to now presenting and Amy in teaching us that we have to go through different stages in order to get to our end goal and that even though it may not be easy, that we should stay determined.

Even listening to the podcast with my mum, she learned tips and it’s a great experience for me when listening with my mum or by myself at college on Tuesdays, as new podcasts are released every Tuesday. For me, this episode was especially useful as in the future I would like to work within the Marketing, Advertising, Branding and Media sector and finding advice on how to get onto that field can be difficult. I’m sure you would agree for all my fellow college readers who also have a career dream that it can be difficult to get advice for. Even with interview stages, hearing advice from the girlies on the importance of embracing your individual personality, standing out on your CVs and being persistent helped to motivate me in continuing to practice self love and my creativity.

So finally, for all my readers, in celebrating #InternationalWomensWeek here at Starring Stantara, I would recommend for you to watch the podcast, if like me: you love PLT, want advice in getting into your dream career field and/ or if you just want to hear an honest girl chat featuring empowering Boss Babes . And to the PLT team, I’m sure on behalf of your supporters, we thank you for continuing the Empowerment lifestyle and for the honest advice. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for PrettyLittleThing and I’m happy to be a supporter of that journey. Happy day to whatever day you’re reading this on and Stay Blessed, Stay Fashionable and Stay Educated.

Why Jharrel’s Win at the Emmy’s wasn’t just a win for him but a win for the Culture ! #BlackHistoryMonth

So, firstly, if you don’t know who Jharrel Jerome is, he is a new inspiring actor known for his amazing performance in the hit and emotional Netflix series, β€œWhen They See Us”, which describes the emotional journey that four young boys go through when they are made to do time for a crime they did not commit and fight regarding the injustice of the ‘justice system’. If you haven’t watched it already then I would definitely advice you to. Not only is it empowering to the culture and hits key problems of racism, but inspires us Youth to actually want to make a change in the world for Justice.

On the 23rd of September 2019, Jharrel Jerome won his first Emmy award for Lead Actor for his earth-shattering performance in When They See Us. The Netflix series, directed by the amazing Ava DuVernay, presents Jharrel Jerome, who plays one of the exonerated Central Park Five; Korey Wise (both young and older) and from the win, heroically becomes the first Afro-Latin actor to win in the category.

As I am a black young female, and I’m sure many others would agree, this moment inspired me so much because of the representation of black youth. The feeling, not of acceptance but of the knowledge our growingly ‘WOKE’ society understanding and spreading awareness of one of the many unjust events of that black people endure on a regular basis. “I think our strongest stories are the stories of pain considering that’s what we go through on a regular basis. … I think the truth is our pain needs to be told,”Jharrel Jerome. The fact that Jharrel Jerome has represented the talent and heart warming truth of the young generation, especially in the black community, winning awards that, in the past, we wouldn’t normally see. Seeing a black male winning an Emmy Award! Not to say that an Emmy Award sums up our worth, but just the fact that its one of our many accomplishments in making everyone of all races, cultures etc see and understand our perspective. Of reducing racism and arrogance. Thank you Jharrel Jerome, this was a move for the Culture.

10 things to do In Hot Girl Summer βœ¨πŸ’•πŸ’πŸ¬πŸ’πŸ½β€β™€οΈ before school starts

So GCSE RESULTS DAY has finally passed. I’m pleased 😁 to say that I’m happy with my results and am now heading on to college where I will be studying my chosen A levels. Thank you Lord βœ¨πŸ’˜πŸ™πŸ½βœοΈ

I hope that You got the results that you wanted and deserved and even if you didn’t, don’t let your Grades define you. As I said on my Instagram story, there are many Billionaires today who dropped out of school. See it as a stepping stone, not your whole journey.

I’m sure if you’re like me and also Now officially a Student *Eek πŸ˜›πŸ₯³ you finally feel like you can relax and enjoy the rest of your holidays !! So here are some things that you can do before #HotNerdFall as said by Meghan Thee Stallion; creator of 2019’s summer slogan ‘Hot Girl Summer’

10. Go to the park

Appreciating life and nature is such a self warming and beautiful experience. There’s many things to do at parks : have a picnic 🧺, funfairs, local gym or going on the swings etc . Look for a local park and enjoy the day by yourself or with your friends + Plus, It’s Free !!! What a fun and easy way to go towards your Hot Girl Summer.

9.Start a new hobby

8. Start reading

7. Go out with friends

6. Do voluntary work or work experience

5. Go on a self Love journey

4.Binge your fave Netflix movie 🍿

Nothing more relaxing in my opinion that Drinking tea β˜•οΈ, eating snacks and binge watching my fave Netflix films πŸŽ₯. And the great news is, once you’ve finished binge watching your fave series ( mines is “On my block”, can’t wait for S3 !! ) there’s many more to choose from. Some of my faves are:

Pretty Little Liars

On My Block

How to get Away with Murder

Stranger Things

3. Go to the cinemas

There’s many new films to watch at the cinemas and many more to come. Eating popcorn 🍿 and experiencing the full cinema experience is amazing and a fun thing to do whenever!! Especially in the holidays. Some of the films which I have recently watched and recommend is : Toy Story 4, Fast & Furious and The Lion King.

All amazing btw

2. Try something new and face your fears

I admit I’m guilty of this… but who isn’t . Facing your fears and changing routine !! 😦🀭🀣 I’m joking. Trying new things is scientifically proven to increase self esteem and confidence. I remember last year I used to be so scared of public speaking but since 2018, I have improved so much and you never know what new hobby you might pick up along the way.

1. Relax

Try a new face care routine. It’s important that you try to relax before the end of summer, Even though Fall is relaxing itself πŸ‚πŸβ˜•οΈ Yass ( marshmallows, tea and movies), but if your a student like me, A levels is very important and also a next page of our educational journey, so we need to make sure that we’ve relaxed before going back to study πŸ“–. πŸ₯°

Invited as fashion blogger to the FDCYDA awards + Interviews #teendiaries

To the person reading this right now…Yes you King or you Queen.I just want to say Never ever ever make Anyone tell you to give up on your dreams, no matter what race, gender or age you may be.Work hard for your passions. I’m personally the kind of girl who always goes for what I aspire. If I do it and it “doesn’t work out” ..eh.So what ! I can say that I tried it and I gained experience from it and #tbh that’s how I want all of my blog community, all of the people following me on my journey, to think. How do you do it being 16? They ask.

Mindset God and Goals with a sugar of determination. This is partly what my blog is about really, (Hence the name Starring Stantara ) . If I can do it.. being 16.. being a minority.. having no experience, Just me, myself and God, then beautiful people, You Can Too.

So now you know a bit about me. That what you’ve just read was just the exposition, here’s what really occurred…

#BehindTheScenes

It was a glowy morning, I didn’t plan much of how my day was going to go. I remember just finishing washing the dishes and was about to eat my breakfast, when I decided to check my email. In my email I instantly saw ‘You are Invited…’ and almost immediately , my face lit up as if I had won the lottery and my finger crashed down on my phone screen with a rollercoaster of emotions. Why was I so ‘gassed’ as us teens would call it today ? well this is because I absolutely love being invited to events and if you’re a part of my fun insta fam (http://instagram.com/mxss.gelato_ join us!! ) then you would know that from last year and proudly being crowned Junior Miss West Birmingham, I’ve developed a love for blogging and making appearances. But even you.Think, wouldn’t you be just as excited ?!! : D

So anyways, I opened the email and started to read.I think after the first read I read it a few times after…just to check that it wasn’t a scam.I’m sure those of you reading this who have emails are aware of what I mean… those emails saying ‘You have won $100000 for helping my grandfather in this country etc’.. Gurll I’ve never even heard of that country in my life πŸ˜„ After realising that the email was legit, I went to tell my best friend. My mother. She was happy for me and has always been my biggest supporter. I would say that we’re each others biggest cheerleaders.

The day before the event, I started to plan what I was going to wear. Being a ‘fashionista’, I wanted an outfit that represented me: young, fun, trendy and classy. After finding my stunning Karen Millen suit, I went to sleep awaiting for the big day tomorrow.

When I arrived, I was amazed. The event was held at the Park Regis hotel in Birmingham. Stunning place btw, where I was warmly greeted by the hard working and friendly event organizer : Joanna Marshall. Overall I really enjoyed the event.I had the opportunity to interview many talented designers with such different interests for their designs and personalities and even crowned the award winner 1st and 2nd for the FDCYDA awards for young designers. As an aspiring young designer myself, it was amazing to hear so many different personal stories which I will share. So thank you again to everyone who made me feel welcomed and to all of the new bloggers I met!
